Can I spin my Master's as a positive thing?

I took 5 and 1/2 years to complete my part-time Masters degree in Engineering with a 3.6 GPA. I was working full-time as an Engineer and enrolled in the part-time program. I took classes on and off because I was busy with work and due to financial reasons.

Is this a negative? Do I have to address this in the optional essay? Or is it a positive thing to complete a Masters degree part-time while working full-time. How would adcoms look at it? I am hoping they look at it positively since my undergrad GPA is bad.

I think you should mention this in optional essay but everywhere in essay and interview portray this as a positive. Clearly elucidate the fact that despite heavy workload you didn't stop and kept on pursuing the program. Shows your persistence and determination. Portray possible negatives as sure-shot strengths.
