by NIDHI85 » Wed Dec 12, 2012 9:05 pm
Hi ,

Could you please evaluate my profile and let me know schools that are within my range..?

Iam an Indian female...I graduated with an aggregate of 78% in Engineering discipline. Have been exceptional in school(Ranked second school in Xth and received 96% in XII - High school) .

I have a 6 years work experience with 1.5 years international experience (working in the US)I have been in the IT field and the clients I have worked for include a British telecom company and a major US credit card provider/bank.Thanks to my work , I have indepth knowledge about the credit cards/ banking system. I have received various awards from clients for excellence. I have been leading a team of nearly 10 people for the past 3 years.I was one of the youngest module leads in my project. I have worked in multiple places within the US. I have led many initiatives at work which has led to substantial savings for the client. I have handled almost 25 assignments which involved major business changes. I have been recognized multiple times by my employer and my client as a Star player.

I am a member of the interview panel for my company. Was the pioneer at my office for a popular public speaking initiative which is still going strong. Have been the key organizer of all events at office and also initiated the first ever event at client site (involving all clients) and received much appreciation for the same. I have initiated a movement that brought a local library into limelight and encouraged a book sale. I love travelling and am active member of the trekking club at my employer's. Worked with many charities when in College/work.

I have a GMAT score of 710.

Am looking at UNC Chapel , Darden , Tepper , UCLA, Cornell ,Ross,Emory,UT Austin ,Duke , Ross, Marshall.

Please let me know which among these are within reach , which are a stretch and which safe.
Appreciate your help and guidance.

Hi Nidhi,

It sounds like your academics and professional experience are quite strong. Being an engineer is a disadvantage, but the fact that you are female will help balance that. As for extracurriculars, it seems you are highly engaged inside the company, but I don't see too much leadership outside of work (except for the one library initiative). I think Tepper, Cornell, UCLA are going to be the right target programs for you, though you definitely stand a chance at some of the more competitive programs on your list. And your safeties look good too - I think you've been pretty thoughtful here!

Good luck!
Mili
