MBA Program Dilemma

by hardikrs » Tue Jul 01, 2008 10:58 am
Group please share your inputs -----

1.) Since I am a working professional, I am leaning towards a part time MBA, any potential down side of a part time compared to a full time, especially when I am planning to switch careers.

2.) I am an Industrial engineer planning to switch career and get in Investment banking, is MBA the right direction? I have 3+ years of experience.

I would really appreciate if anybody can share their experience/thoughts on this matter.

Thank you.

If you are planning a career transition, full time is a better way to go. Future employers will see the irrelevancy of your career during the part-time MBA as a pretty big downside. ;)

Part-time MBAs are good if you're planning to move up vertically, i.e. in your current field. For transitioning (same boat that I'm in), full-time is the way to go. You'll also be able to finish it faster than part-time and get to your goal career right away.

Hope this helps!
