gmat score 510

i took the gmat 2 years ago and received a score of 510. This crushed me because I received a really good score on my SAt in high school and I can't figure out how I can improve. I have been studying the exams , taking them over and over again , remembering the repeat problems. Is this effective or is the actual test completely different from the practice exams?

2 years is long time. When are you planning to take the exam now ?And which all areas are you not doing well ? Which books are you using ?

It depends what resources you are using. Some of them should definitely be ignored. It is the safest to use the official materials. Apart from the Official Guide, there are also the Verbal and the Quantitative Reviews from the OG Series, which are also very useful.

Answering GMAT questions is an important aspect of your preparation, but this should be done after you've learned the core concepts and the GMAT-specific required to tackle those practice questions.

Find some resources that suit your learning style (books, videos, face-to-face course) first, and go from there.

I took the exam again on November 15th and I scored a 590, yet I was unable to finish all the exam questions. In the integrated section 2 were unanswered. In the math section I guessed on the last 10 questions since I only had 3 min left and the verbal I had to guess as well on the last 10. How do I improve my speed?

One of the great things about almost all GMAT math questions is that they can be solved using at least 2 different approaches. Typically, one approach is much faster than the other(s). So, the key to speed improvement is recognizing the fast approach for each question.

To get better at recognizing the fastest approach, I suggest that you spend a lot of time reviewing the responses from the Experts on this site. Here you will find a variety of approaches for every question. You'll also see the steps and thought processes involved in tackling math problems.
