Clarification Needed with regard to Time Relations

There is this case study in Manhattan GMAT Book 4 Rate Problems pg(37) which states that "Sue left the office 1 hour after Tara,but they met on the road.


Rate x Time = Distance

Sue x t-1 =

Tara x t =

Since its states that Sue left the office 1 hour after Tara shouldn't it be t+1 in case of Sue.I was not able to understand the interpretation here. Experts or fellow members, please clarify.

If Sue leaves 1 hour AFTER Tara, then Sue travels for 1 hour LESS than Tara.
Thus, if t = Tara's time, then Sue's time = t-1.
