Hello,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this. I really need some advice as I don't know whether I should apply to Columbia early decision or regular. I feel like it largely has to do with how risk averse I am but. But does applying early significantly improve my chances of getting in?

A little info about myself:

GPA: 3.8
University: Top 20 school, double major
GMAT: still studying for it...aiming for 700+
Additional Certifications: CFA level I
Ethnicity: Other (female)

Work Experience: 1 yr at a boutique strategy consulting, and 2 yrs international experience in an economic development consulting firm.

Thanks again for your help.

Jane

Dear Jane,

It is not necessarily "easier" to get in if you apply early decision. However, the round is smaller since it is binding to accept the admission if you receive it. If you know Columbia is your first choice, then it would be worth it to apply early decision to leverage the small applicant pool to your advantage. If you are not sure if this school is your first choice, then it is better to apply in the following round to allow yourself the most flexibility.

Good luck,
Lisa
