Define a decent score?

by contactkakkar » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:10 am
Hi,

Can you pls define what is an appropriate gmat score to get into a good bschool. I have 4 years of work exp and good academic record. I have my gmat on coming 25th. But i am not confident og getting 700. May be 660-670.

Also, I have heard that gmat has made its exam more difficult. One of my friend gave gmat on 17th and confirmed the same. His mocks hovered around 740. But in gmat he said maths was difficult though he was able to get 50 scaled score. Also, he said he got blasted in english in which he only got 32 score. His overall score came 680.

Pls help me.... I have my exam on 25 and i am teriffied.

A good gmat score depends on what school you're trying to get into as well as the rest of your application. If you have a strong background outside of the gmat and you're applying to a top 30 school then a good score could be 650; however, if you have a relatively weak background in quant and you are applying to Stanford or Wharton then a 650 may be at the low end. Having said that, I know at least one person who scored 660 and got into LBS, one of the best schools in the world.

550 =\ ...560 =\... 650 =) ...570 =( ...540 =*( ...680 =P ... 670 =T ...=T... 650 =T ...700 =) ..690 =) ...710 =D ...GMAT 720 DING!! ;D
