Telephonic interview with Imperial

Hello everyone,

I just had a telephonic interview with Dr. Namrata Malhotra from Imperial. It went quite alright. It lasted for near about 20 mins. How long do the UK Universities usually take once you are through with the interview in reverting back to you with final result? Also, how much does weight age does the interview hold, since mine seemed way too light. She asked very basic questions like why MBA, why Imperial, career goals and a few more in the same lines.

Any insight will be helpful.

Arti, Congratulations on being short listed for the interview. From what i'm aware of, the interview only serves as a platform to verify the applicant's story and to ascertain the applicant's communication skills. If you felt it went 'quite alright', then im pretty sure that you will be receiving an admit. So, congratulations once again.

Now, i only came to know of Imperial from a list of universities that i got from my local British Council office. I have visited their website but have not been able to garner much info. Could you please tell me(& the rest of BTG) what were the factors pushed you to select Imperial and how it compares to other tier 1/2 European programs.

Thanks sars for the information and encouragement . Well i applied to Imperial primarily because of its reputation in research. You get to work with their research teams on real life business case studies. It's got good reputation and is located in London. So you have plenty of mnc's recruiting. Kind of provides a good payback for your investments. Well it shoots a little over the budget in terms of tuition fee and the living expenses (being in London n all) when compared to the other programs in UK (like Cass, Lancaster or Warwick) but they have a strong network and a decent Career Development Program which ensures employment (was convinced by a few alumni people i interacted with). So there, dont know how convincing the reasons are but that's all i got .

thanks for the insight. A week ago, I only had Manchester in mind (primarily coz of its 18 month program). But after a few hours of browsing, and reading posts such as yours, i am convinced that Imperial is a genuinely good school. Could you share the app procedures and timelines that you followed e.g. when you applied, got the interview call etc.

aww well that's the most interesting part. I submitted my application on i think 23rd Jan and i received an interview call on 2nd Feb. Which was a quick response i think .

Hey, I also had an interview over the phone with Edinburgh Uni Business School. Mine was also very relaxed, I mean VERY relaxed But probably it's for the best, because if it was too official, I would start to feel nervous. As it was, we had a great chat and MBA's director actually told me at the end of our conversation that I have an unconditional offer.
But I am sure it depends on school, so Imperial probably has different procedures. But yeah, so far, rolling admissions are much more fun

The interview went really well, my admissions tutor was really friendly and i only got asked the usual why imperial and a situation quest. Good luck for you.
