I graduated 3rd in my class in architecture. Freshman year we started with 144 students, by the end of the program only 38 graduated. Can I indicate that my class rank was 3rd out of 144?

Wow, that's impressive! I didn't know architecture programs had such a high drop out rate. Still, I don't think it would be fair to categorize your rank as 3 out of 144. That might be a bit too much spin... is there someone else you could ask who is more familiar with the architecture field? Maybe there is a consensus in the field as to how to approach this.
