Dear all..

Here is a Question making me confused..

What do u think about?

I chose A.

Q) Government distributed electronic books and computers into high schools______________the textbooks.

A. for use to replace

B. for use in place of

C. to use them to replace

D. to use them in place of

E. to use them in a replacement of

[netigen]

Q is weird because "into high school" is not correct.

Anyway, I think B is correct in this.

I initially opted for D.

"to use" sounds better... but on second thoughts ...

In Choice D, what is the pronoun "them" referring to ?
High schools ? OR [Books and Computers] ?

Is the reference clear ???

Anyways I will still go by D... its sounding right than any other choice

i think B is correct.Books and computers for use.... appears to be correct and moreover 'them' in D is ambigous.
Any other thoughts?

Of the answers provided, (b) is best.

However, since the other parts of the sentence are gramatically incorrect (the whole sentence makes no sense from a grammar/style point of view - there's actually no main clause, among other problems), I have little faith in this example.
