where do you tell adcom what you do?

So, I'm ear deep in applications at this point (gunning for round 1), and have heard all through the process that your resume is not where you're supposed to tell them what you do, but where you're supposed to show off your accomplishments and big picture strengths.

So, I included some description of what I actually do (since I don't think it's obvious in my job title--Business Analysts can do a huge range of things, and I don't work in consulting or finance, so it isn't obvious) in one of my essays in the part that asks to tell about what you've done so far that will make you successful, but I just got some feedback from a consultant saying that I shouldn't talk about what I do in my job because they'll have seen that in my resume! Well, I took that out of my resume, so they won't find it there. Where do I include this piece??

It's hard to say exactly without seeing your stuff, but I'll share a few thoughts with you, and I hope this will help

1. What you do doesn't matter. At all - What I mean here is that if you are a Tech do, and 95% of your time is spent coding, you still don't need to have ANYTHING about the actual coding in either your resume or essays. That's right. NOTHING. Because it has nothing to do with an MBA.... so maybe you don;t NEED to have your job description.

2. Achievements tell what you do better than writing about your responsibilities - you could write "I manage products" or you could write "As product manager, I tripled sales for xxxx" The second one is stronger, and we are all clever enough to infer what you do from this.

3. Your results are more important anyway.
