590 on the GMAT

by nikhilxlnc » Mon Sep 17, 2012 11:16 pm
Hi, I am a 26 year old Indian National. I have been working in the automotive sector for the past 4 years across New Business Development, Supply Chain Management and Marketing domains. I have a good academic record (with a distinction in my undergraduate engineering studies). My extra curriculars include social work, public speaking, music (singing and playing instruments) etc. I had appeared for the GMAT last Novemeber and was able to manage a 590. Becasue of work committments I wasn't able to retake the exam anywhere sooner then.

By pursuing my MBA from a global institute of repute, I seek to gain a wide range of exposure for a wholistic learning of business and in course advance further in my career. Is my score of 590 (along with this profile of mine) good enough for me to realizse these dreams or should I consider retaking the GMAT?

Please advice. Thanks in advance!

Hi nikhilxlnc,

I recommend re-taking your GMAT. Based on the profile information you provide, you will want to target schools at or around your average GMAT score and most US full-time programs have an average GMAT score of at least 650. The good news is that applicants have a strong track record of being able to improve their GMAT score through additional preparation. Clear Admit offers a free guide to GMAT test prep companies, which can be found here: https://clearadmit.shop.studylink.com/pr ... oductid=41.

Alternatively, you could consider part-time MBA programs in your area or schools outside the US.

Hope that helps!

Heidi
