I am not making an attempt to conspire or prove collusion, but does anyone know if employers receive incentives/discounts when sending its employees to graduate school? I am already aware the IRS allows employers to deduct tuition reimbursement for up to $5,250 a year for each employee. However, does Google, for example, pay the same amount to send its employees to Chicago Booth (or any MBA school) vs. someone who enrolls on his/her own with no employer incentives?

My friend told me that enrolling as an individual already puts one at a disadvantage because he/she has no bargaining power. He further explained that some employers negotiate student tuition costs for soft money scholarships with universities. In return, the employers arrange employment and recruiting opportunities for future graduates.

The methodology makes sense, but is it true? Thanks much!
