my chances at baruch MS program

by silentsaber » Fri Sep 14, 2012 7:58 am
Overall gmat is 550 44 percentile math and 48 percentile verbal ( ran out of time on the math had to randomly guess like 10 questions)
GPA for Undergrad is 3.3
Very few working experience, mostly only part time jobs.

my chances of getting into baruch MS accounting program?

their requirements stated they needed a 550 score but the percentile split is 59% math, which i did not achieve, will it be detrimental to my application? SHould i write an optional essay stating that during gmat i ran out of time on the math section?

Definitely do NOT write an essay saying you ran out of time on the test. That just shows you didn't prep enough for the exam and/or didn't know how to manage your time well. It is not a reason a valid reason to not perform well. If the requirement is a 59% math then you're not going to be considered. I quickly glanced on the website and didn't see any such requirement though.

I saw this:
What is the minimum GMAT or GRE score I need to gain admission?
Our most successful candidates have scored in the 45th percentile or higher on each section of the GMAT/GRE.

I would just retake. You have enough time. And you can for sure get higher than a 550. Take a course if you need.
