Hello,

I am a Control Systems engineer and have been working in a core engineering job for past 14 months. I look forward to a career change in Finance/Analytics domain. Hence I am willing to apply for MBA this year itself in spite the fact that minimum 2 yrs of work ex is required for most of the good B-schools. Imbalanced score( High in quant and low in verbal, all 4 sections) adds to my concern.

I would like to mention I have always excelled in my school as well as graduation. So grades are not an issue. Plus, I have done a lot of NGO work since past 5 years.

Experts, could you please help me shortlist 5 B-schools I should apply to considering all of the above points?
I am also interested in MS Financial Mathematics. Will a different background and irrelevant experience make it a weak option?

Thanks in anticipation.

Well, if you are really interested in going into the analytics side of finance, why not apply for a Masters in finance? The advantages would be that first of all, two years experience (they count from matriculation) is pretty normal as opposed to an MBA where it would significantly lower your chances, and that if you get into the MF your career switch is all but guaranteed, whereas in your MBA there will be a lot more doubts and options regarding what you do post-MBA.
