should I take GMAT again?

by saminny » Sat Sep 01, 2012 6:51 pm
Hi all,
I just gave my GMAT exam today and here are my unofficial scores -

Quant: 48, percentile 78
Verbal: 34, percentile 69
Total: 680, percentile 85

I did not prepare lot for the exam, only 3 weeks of practice and learning. However, my time management on the test was very poor. I finished my quant with 10 minutes to spare, but what concerns me most is I finished my verbal with 20 minutes to spare! I realize now I shouldn't have rushed through some of the reading comprehension questions and could have done much better if I had allocated more time to those questions :(

What do you guys think about these scores? I am NOT applying to the top graduate programs like Harvard or Columbia so will these scores affect my chances in a negative way?

I appreciate your feedback.

680 is a great score. Check the schools you are applying for mean, median scores and your score along with your profile should fall in the 80% range. You leverage any weak points with GMAT score, so don't go for a retake unless you find something which you want to compensate with a better score.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
