Profile evaluation: GMAT 660

by samdhathri » Thu Sep 06, 2012 6:43 am
Hi,

Could you please help me in evaluating my profile.

I wrote GMAT and scored 660 (Q-49, V-31)

I did B.Tech from Computer Science in 2010.
I have 2yrs of IT experience in Accenture Services Private Ltd.
I volunteered several programs in Greenpeace.
I have a lot of leadership experience in my college like organizing inter college events, etc
I was the troop leader for the Bharat scouts and Guides Rashtrapathi camp and received the certificate for the same from the President of India.
I secured 81 rank in the national Maths Olympiad.
Won many accolades(First and runners up) in several inter-college competitions.
I am working on an application development for Automated performance appraisal systems development as an initiative other than what i do at office.

Am planning to change my domain from S/W to Finance.
I want to know whether I should go for 1yr/2yr/Execitve MBA in Finance.
Which all universities shall i apply in and in which all do i stand a good change to get through? My preference is ISB hyderabad.
Would I get any scholarship for MBA in US universities? If yes, which universities should I apply for?

Thanks in advance for the help
Sam

Hi samdhathri,

Thanks for your post.

Your profile looks to be best matched with 2Y MBA program. 1Y MBA programs are typically tailored to applicants with a business undergraduate degree and those who will not be making a significant career change. Executive MBAs are designed for applicants with about 10 years of work experience.

You will be at the lower end of work experience for most US full-time MBA programs since you will have three years upon matriculation (most schools average around 4.5 years of work experience). ISB-Hyderabad also has an average of 5 years of work experience. I recommend waiting 1-2 years to apply unless you have a strong reason to do so otherwise.

With your current profile, I recommend applying to schools in the US which have similar GMAT scores as yours. Some examples include Indiana University, Georgetown, Ohio State, Rice Unviversity, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt.

Hope that helps! Please feel free to reach out at [email protected] for a free detailed evaluation.

Heidi
