Question about recommenders

Hi,
I am applying to some schools including ISB and NUS.
I am in a fix over whom I should select as an evaluator...
Three years ago, I started a company along with some partners. Frankly, all this did not work out much. In the context of the evaluation/recommendation questions, I can not think of anybody who can do an honest assessment of my work during this period. Actually, this venture not working out as intended is a reason why I want to pursue MBA.
In this scenario, will it be ok if recommender I choose is from my earlier job? I had many achievements and significant success in the earlier job.

Unless you have a very good reason for not choosing a recommender from your current place, it will look weird, especially if you have been there as long as you have. I highly recommend figuring out who might be your best go at your current workplace. The ideal candidate would be excited to help you.
