Beth received 3/10 votes
She need 5/10 votes to get 1/2 of the votes
therefore she needed 5/10-3/10 = 2/10 votes in addition to her 3/10 votes

Beth did not get (10-3)/10 = 7/10 votes

2/10 is what fraction of 7/10?
(2/10) / (7/10) = 2/7

Let the number of votes casted be x.

Amount of votes received by Beth = 3x/10
Remaining votes = 7x/10
In order for Beth to receive 1/2 of the votes casted, she needs to receive x/2 votes.

x/2 - 3x/10 = x/5

(x/5)/(7x/10) = 2/7

Choose B.
