Stanford says only certain courses count toward GPA?

I thought this was interesting on the Stanford Application:

Please report your undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and the scale used by your institution. Only courses for credit toward your first bachelor's degree count in your GPA. Report/calculate your GPA, to the best of your ability, even if your institution does not list it on your transcript. You may explain how you report it in the Additional Information section.

Does this mean I can remove the awful grades from an attempt at an undergraduate minor that I decided against pursuing? My gut says just report what my transcript says for all the courses I have taken at the school.

All courses that you took contribute to your GPA if they were for credit. It has nothing to do with your major or minor. You will need to report ALL your grades via your transcript.

I saw this too and my interpretation of what they've written is that you cannot include coursework done outside of your degreed program (such as extra classes you took AFTER earning your degree) toward calculating your UGPA. many applicants build an "alternate transcript" through coursework they take after graduating. Many times this is done in an effort to improve GPA or prove they can handle the coursework of an MBA program. Stanford is specifically stating that these grades cannot be factored into the undergrad GPA calculation. it's still fine to take these classes, but it won't help with your total UGPA calculation.
