B - it is incorrect to say that "the growth was MORE than...", it would be correct to say "the economy GREW MORE" or that "the growth was more significant"
C - wrong use of the past perfect tense and the wrong verb form "exceeds"
D - wrong use of the present perfect tense and the wrong verb form "exceeds"
E - correct use of "exceeded" but incorrect structure starting with "what"
A - correct.
