Profile Evaluation

by mvamsee » Sat Jun 30, 2012 1:58 pm
Hi, Please help in evaluating my Profile.

Male.
Age - 26
Education - Undergraduate in Computer Engineering from George Mason (Good Regional US University) - GPA 3.1
Graduate Studies - MS in Computer Science (Information Security) from George Mason University - GPA 3.5

GMAT - 640 (Q44, V34)

Work Experience - IT Project Manager in Large government mortgage company.
3+ Years of work Experience.
Have been managing/leading several 100K+ projects to success. Initiating, working with business and driving the projects. Have experience driving multiple projects simultaneously. Volunteered to take part in Pilot programs to help improve the processes.
(I can give more info about my work experience if needed)

Extra-circular activities:
Toast Masters.
Volunteered to help build/construct houses for under privileged via group called Home team.
Have been in an committee that plans/organizes field day activities for a school that caters under-privileged children.
Mentored/Taught young kids with the help of a volunteering group.
Active in Sports. Represented our University in an National cricket tournament (This sport is slowly gaining popularity in US) and won the National Championship. 32 US Universities and Canadian Universities participated in this tournament.

POST MBA:
Work in a Management consultancy firm and use this experience to explore new options. (I can talk about this in detail after our initial conversation if needed).

Even though I am of Indian Origin, I am a US Citizen and have done most of my education in US (starting from HS). Is there any way to separate myself from the Indian IT male stereotype. From reading many form posts, I realize that it is a disadvantage to be in this group.

I am hoping to attend a Full Time MBA program that is good in Management Consultancy. Ie a Program that has good placement statistics in Management consultancy.
So Please evaluate my profile and provide a list of MBA programs that would be in my reach and programs that would be competitive to stretch. I am willing to explore Universities from any US region, but would restrict myself to Top 20 US universities.

I really appreciate your help.
Thank You for your time.

Hi mvamsee,

You are part of an ultra competitive pool of Indian IT professionals. Your GPA and GMAT (esp quant in percentile terms)both are on the lower side. You can not change your background and GPA, but a much higher GMAT score will certainly help.
