In the rectangular coordinate system,
if line l is parallel to one of the
axes, does line l contain the point
(4, 5) ?
(1) Line l contains the point (4, -5).
(2) Line l crosses the x-axis.

OA is C

(1) Line l contains the point (4, -5).
(2) Line l crosses the x-axis.

OA is C
1) A line passing through (4,-5) can be either parallel to x axis or y axis. If it is parallel to X axis, then line l will not contain (4,5), where as if the line l is parallel to Y axis it will contain (4,5). INSUFFICIENT

2)line l is parallel to one of the axis and cross x axis. So the line l is parallel to y axis. We can form many lines parallel to y axis: one will have (4,5) and others wont. INSUFFICIENT.

Combining 1 and 2: Line l passes through (4,-5) and is parallel to y axis. We can conclude that the line will have (4,5) on it. SUFFICIENT.

Hence C.
