Being - correct usage

by confuse mind » Fri Aug 03, 2012 2:19 am
Please tell me some correct, per GMAT, usages of Being. I see some books straightaway reject the answer having 'Being', which is NOT correct.

Some examples and intricacies involved please.

As the GMAT does not condone passive voice, being is typically incorrect. This is because it puts sentences into passive voice. The main exception you should be aware of is in an introductory clause, because these are passive by nature. For example:

Being an outstanding student, Jess aced the GMAT.
