concept of "OCTAVE " in RC

i come to know that there is a concept known as OCTAVE in RC in order to solve the passage
more effectively

O---> opinion of author
C---> contrast toward
T----> Tone of the passage
A----> Avoid superlative
V----> Verify each word
E----> Always eliminate not select

I think this is taught in Sandeep Gupta's Ivy GMAT classes in Bangalore. Anyone has access to his material? It used to be available online free.

As per Ron, tone of the passage are in a decline mode and he wrote that OG12 has no tone related questions... I still need to check how true is this but if so this is like christmas for me.
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

Though direct questions such as "What is the tone of the passage" is on the wane, it is still imperative to know the tone. Many of the questions on GMAT RC expect you to answer contextual information. This is something you will be able to glean only with a knowledge of the tone.

Please elaborate on A----> Avoid superlative...is it something related to extreme wording ?

I don't know if it is really helpful!! Unless you can recognize the Tone/Opinion of the passage this tool is least helpful. Anyways that's just an opinion :)
