To answer the question, we need to fix the positions of both line l and line m.
But considering both statements together also we cannot fix their positions.
Have a look at the following figure for a better understanding.

The correct answer is E.

Can you explain again?

Let us assume that we have fixed the position of line m such that the shaded triangle is an equilateral triangle. Now, there are infinite number of possible positions for line l and n such that x = y. Like l will be parallel to line m in only one of those infinite positions.

I have shown two such possibilities.
In the first they are parallel and in the second, they are not.

I thought that there is a mathematical way to achieve the answer as E rather than logical way of w/o working out. That's the reason i requested you to explain

Refer to the figure below,

For line l to be parallel to line m, x must be equal to 60.
Even considering both statements together, we don't have that information.
