I would like to know whether the amount of time i spend in promoted designation matters. If yes then i should change company and get promotion right away...

Hi Vikram,

If changing jobs means getting 'a promotion right away', you should definitely go ahead and do it irrespective of how many months you will be in that job before you apply in the second round.Since promotions in your company have been further delayed, this will be your best move to progress in your career.

Good luck,

Promotions are pretty important for Adcom (and for your life too I imagine!). I would say though that there is no standard across the board in all industries and companies. Meaning some industries have a standard promotion after one year, and some two, and some four. The thing to do is to see where you stand in terms of your peers. Have you been passed over while other people are moving up? Then maybe its time to think about your other options.
