Low score on GMAT.Pls help

by cgothe » Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:51 am
Hi,

Took my GMAT and I have a low score. It was not my day and i couldnot complete the test on time. Left 10 questions in maths unanswered and verbal i had guessed for around 10 questions.Am very confused on what to do now. Worried that this low score will reflect on the score sheet, if i retake the exam.somebody pls suggest me on what to do.

Thanks,

Study hard and retake the test. Give yourself a finite amount of time before you take the test again.

I suggest 10 weeks. Take 2 weeks off and hit it hard again for 8 weeks.

How does your actual score compare to your practice test scores? It's important to figure out if your low score is reflective of a lack of content/strategy knowledge or if you were just having a bad day and fell victim to test day anxiety.

Clearly, one of your biggest issues was timing. Did you use any type of pacing chart? You are focusing too long on some questions. Can you figure out if there's any pattern to that? How's your timing when working on practice questions. Leaving unanswered questions is worse than guessing on questions. Worst case scenario, even if you don't have time to narrow down any of the answer choices, a random guess will leave you less penalized than not finishing the section.
