Is a>b ?

(i)a=b^2
(ii)a=(b+2)

The answer is pretty easy. But, I need a workflow. I did this by substituting
+ve and -ve integers, +ve and -ve fractions for each option. Is there any other easier/quick way ?

When comparison of powers are involved, always remember that

• for x > 1 ---> 1 < x < x² < x³ < ...
  for 0 < x < 1 ---> 1 > x > x² > x³ > ... > 0

Statement 1: a = b²
We can't say whether a > b or not.
For example,

• For a = 1, b = 1 --> a = b
  For a = 2, b = 1 --> a > b

Not sufficient

Statement 2: a = (b + 2) > b

Sufficient

The correct answer is B.
