Life is a funny thing. Most people do not truly understand the meaning of life until they face an obstacle. Through pain and suffering, certain events can change a person's impression on life. Thus, Demi Lovato is an excellent example of how her impression on life has changed through her experiences.

When Lovato was four years old, she faced depression. At such young age, she was bullied for her weight and appearance. As she became older, more people verbally assaulted her with hate and discouragement. She soon faced frustration where she seemed to be living in a dark inescapable hole. She overworked herself, filling up her schedule because she thought it would be a solution. As time went on, she started to physically harm herself with drugs, alcohol, and cutting because she took the pain she suffered onto herself. At that moment, that dark inescapable hole was her only view on life. Through all these tragic events, she realized that she needed help. One day, she finally looked to her parents with recognition that she needed to go to rehabilitation. Now she shares her story with millions of people. The days where she faced the dark inescapable hole now has vanished. Everyday she is awake with the idea that she needs to stay healthy, and she deserves freedom and happiness. Life is still a struggle for her, but from the experiences she has faced, her impression on life has changed.

She tells an interviewer that she " felt like her life was a lie". During her childhood years, she had many problems, but she kept putting band-aids on them. She didn't quite understand what was going on in her life. Because no one was there to help her along the way, her impression on life was that " things will get better later; just keep going and ignore it". Everyone goes through their own difficulties and triumphs that define who he/she is, but sometimes their impression on life becomes clouded.

Some people need a life threatening event to change their impression on life, to identify their top priorities. Demi Lovato's life has changed drastically, where she thought the world was hopeless, but now understands that life is a beautiful place. Most oftenly, impressions on life change from negative to positive. If a person did not go through mistakes and hard times, he/she would not understand how precious life is. It is these events that change our impressions on life, making life worthwhile.
