Airthmetic

by phoenix9801 » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:10 pm
The ratio, by volume, of soap to alcohol to water in a certain solution is 2:50:100. The solution will be altered so that the ratio of soap to alcohol is doubled while that ratio of soap to water is halved. If the altered solution will contain 100 cubic centimeters of alcohol, how many cubic centimeters of water will it contain?

Answer:
100 cubic centimeters then water must be 800 cubic centimeters.

I do not think that these problems are solvable with the
data provided.

This looks familiar, so it might indeed be a Kaplan problem; I'll try to track down the source and post the full question, if I can find it!

Hello KapTeacherEli,

For some reason the poster of the question changed the complete
question. My responses were for the questions mentioned in

https://www.beatthegmat.com/weak-on-geom ... 14255.html

If you know the sources and the complete question for the above
thread, please do give further insights.

I've nothing to do with the "arithmetic" thread.

Cheers
