What Does This Mean [Day 1]

by mathsmack » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:03 pm
Just finished the Quantitative Diagnostic in the OG 13 for Day 1.

These were my worrisome results:

Problem solving: 17/24 (OG says Above Average)
Data Sufficiency: 9/24 (OG says Below Average)

I had to guess on every single geometry problem in both Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency (I just don't remember a dang thing about shapes!!!) and almost every guess came back wrong. Also, I did some 'guesstimation' on the PS section, thought logically about the answers but didn't actually solve anything.

I was shocked at the DS score. Is this repairable? I'm shooting for a 680 by the end of these 60 days.

Thanks!

The big thing to remember is that this is Day 1.

Data Sufficiency-wise, you just laced up the skates today, and you weren't able to skate backwards right away. That's not a big deal. Everyone struggles with DS at first. It's a question type that's totally unique to the GMAT, so it's foreign territory.

The PS score shows that you have strong math skills, and I'm sure they'll eventually rub off on the DS section.

Cheers,
Brent
