I want to share a few time-managment techniques i followed in the verbal section. Although you need to keep watch on time in both section, It is easier to do so in quant section, (Each question 2 minutes), but it is not the case in verbal. you need to give 1.75 for each question, and this is very disturbing to know whether you are working at right pace.
1. In verbal section I decided to not look at time till i complete 6-7 questions. and i tried to finish these questions as early as possible. After that i checked the remaining time with following calculation-
questions done*2 + remaining time >= 82
82, because for 41 question i alloted 2 minutes for each questions, and to do so you will have to be real fast in the starting. Now consider this-
1. Your are at question no 16 and time remaining is 54 minutes. So 15*2 + 54= 84, so you are managing time efficiently. keep this pace.
2. You are question no. 21 and time remaining is 35 minutes. So 20*2 + 35 = 75, you are lagging, speed up and just make 2-3 good guesses so make up the time.
I used this calculation continuously to keep watch on time and finished Verbal with 5 seconds remaining. Although score in verbal is not so good, but this time management strategy helped me a lot to keep things under control.
This is the technique i used and i was very comfortable with this. There may be several other time management techniques, and whatever method you are using, you must practice it in the mock test itself. Because in the real exam you will see, it is less about always choosing right answer, but more about how quickly you answer.
Sometimes there is very fine line between right and wrong: perspective.
