Average problem

The average (arithmetic mean) of p and q is 120. The average (arithmetic mean) of q and r is 160. How much more is r than p ?

A) 140
B) 80
C) 40
D) 20
E) It cannot be determined from the information given

(p + q)/2 = 120
p + q = 240 -- (1)

(q + r)/2 = 160
q + r = 320 -- (2)

Subtracting (1) from (2),
(q + r) - (p + q) = 320 - 240
r - q = 80
r is 80 more than q.
