Excited, happy and most of all, relieved!! There are enough stories on this forum, of people scoring 700+. Hopefully, my 2 cents will be useful for at least some folks.
Here are my practice test numbers:
Princeton Review Test - Q40, V39, 640 -> Avoid these tests if you can
GMAT Prep 1: Q44, V38, 660
MGMAT 1: Q45, V40, 700
MGMAT 2: Q45, V37,680
MGMAT 3: Q46, V40,700
GMAT Prep 1: Q49, V35, 700
GMAT Prep 2: Q47, V44, 730
Real GMAT: Q48, V41, 720
Resources:
1. Official Guide, 11th edition
2. Quantitative Review
3. Verbal Review
4. Manhattan GMAT - Number Properties --> Absolute must, bought the Kindle edition for $10
5. GMAT Prep Question Bank -> 400 real and recently retired GMAT questions...worth every penny of the $25 it cost (several questions on the real test resembled this set. Great for practicing RC)
6. The Little Red Writing Book (Brandon Royal) -> Excellent little book with the 30 rules of grammar and coverage of idioms. I credit my verbal improvement, especially in SC, to this book. Also picked up some tips on writing, that helped in the AWA
7. Old Veritas GMAT prep books - worth a read for verbal strategies and probability
8. Bob Miller's Math for the GMAT - browsed at local bookstore and gathered some tips. My quant was very weak after all those years and this helped
I can't tell you the number of days I'd been down and how much the posts here have helped lift me up. Do read the posts on this forum regularly!
My biggest tip is to keep your mind clear during the test (or even when studying). Zone out everything else - the upset spouse, the annoying co-worker, pending tasks, etc. The world will not end if you forget everything else for those 4 hours! You will thank yourself after the test
Disclaimer: The wife 2.0, gf/bf 1.0 and kid 0.1 programs have certain demands on your time that are best settled amicably before getting into the 'study zone'.
Go beat the GMAT! All the best!
