Hey,all
I've always been a regular reader of this forum. Although I haven't made any posts so far, the stories of the people who managed to beat GMAT were truly inspirational for me. Thank you, guys!
I amn't sure whether my story will be interesting to any of you especially taking into account the fact that there are so many stories posted here and each of them is exceptional. Yet I'll briefly write about my GMAT story which is finally over!
The main point of this exam is stress management; even if you are excellent in English and Math, you can't be sure that GMAT will be easy for use, as there is so much stress in the exam day. You have to learn how to cope with the tiredness and stress.
Materials I used
- Official Guide for GMAT Review, 9th Edition and 12th Edition
- Kaplan GMAT 800
- All the practice tests I came accross on the Internet
- Manhattan CR and SC
Exam day
I had the exam scheduled at 3 pm, so I took my time. I got up at 11 am, took the wonderful breakfast my grandma had prepared to me, afterwards as I still had time before the exam and I didn't want to bother myself with any studying of GMAT elements-I just looked through AWA templates I've made the day before. (Note: I didn't do any practice tests the day before the exam, as I wanted to accumulate the efforts and energy for today)
I arrived to the exam center 45 minutes earlier than scheduled, so I had to wait. The exam started. The AWAs were OK, neither too difficult nor easy ones. The time passed quickly. (I used to make the practice tests along with AWA sections, so that I could get used to the duration of the actual GMAT.) I took the break , but as I was afraid to be late-I came back in 5 minutes instead of 8 and started Quantitative section. The questions were VERY similar to the ones that are on GMATPrep. By the way, I did GMAT Prep about 15 times, and although some of the questions repeated, several new questions were coming out each time. So practice GMATPrep!!!!
Another break of 8 minutes-I went to restroom, drank some iced coffee and came back, again 3 minutes earlier. Verbal section is started! Again the questions looked like the ones from the official guide, however SC-s and CR-s were longer and more confusing. The most difficult part for me was RC,texts were long and one of them was about astronomy and I'm completely zero in scientific terms:( But I was feeling I wasn't doing bad as each of the texts that appeared on the screen was quite long, that made me think they were 700-800 level.
When I saw 710 on screen-i just screamed!!!! It was the happiest moment of my life. Till now I couldn't imagine my life without GMAT, as during the last three months I used to wake up and go to bed with the thoughts about GMAT. It's sooo amazing to know that I am now free, I've just beaten the GMAT !!!
P.S. Sorry if I left out some important details. In case you have any question, I will be happy to help you!!!
Good luck with your studies, guys!!!! You will beat the GMAT, I am sure
