There are many consultants who will offer feedback and "edit" essays and the costs can range substantially (costs may also depend on how many "reads" you need). Because I work for a consulting firm, I will refrain from answering your question directly and instead offer some general guidance.

IF you plan to use an editor, please please make sure that this person understands who you are and what you are trying to convey. Admissions committees can tell when essays are not authentic and the idea that you hired someone to help you could risk your chance of being admitted. Having someone give you feedback and constructive comments is expected, having someone rewrite your essays is not. An Adcom can tell the difference.

SO, I suggest you look for a coach who can guide you through the entire process and help you create your own unique story. A good consultant will help you understand what the admissions committees look for, s/he will also help you understand your own strengths and weaknesses. You can then use this guidance to present yourself in the best possible light. This might be more expensive but is much more impactful (and truthful) than hiring an editor after the essays are written.

Obviously, after late nights of essay writing, it is important to have a second set of eyes look at an essay for things like spelling, typing errors, etc., but, hopefully a friend or family member will be willing to do this. If you are looking for more significant guidance, just be careful who you work with.

Hi J,

You may look at myessayreview for essay review services. Poonam@myessayreview has helped numerous people showcase their candidacy in the best possible light. As you know, a solid application can really help you stand out of the crowd. One of Poonam's clients - Alfons - experienced that firsthand. He got admitted to the prestigious London Business School MiF program with a 680 GMAT, lower than the school's median score of 710. Alfons credits his success to his experience, his essays, and the fact that his overall application was extremely coherent in spite of the fact that he had worked in variety of roles starting from financial product design and development to technology and aspired to be a career changer. By working with Poonam, he was able to leverage his breadth of experience and position it to his advantage. Here's what he has to say about Poonam's services:
"Poonam is really an expert who knew the essays inside out. She helped me position my candidacy in the best light to my advantage to the admissions committee. She understood the strengths of my candidacy and worked with me to justify my weak areas to the Adcom. Without her help I may not have gotten into my dream school".
Yet another client - Abhishek - received interview calls from each university he applied to including Booth, Darden, and UCLA. Here is an excerpt of what he has to say about Poonam's services:
"Poonam was everything I could ask for - genuinely interested in helping me get into the school of my dreams yet demanding in her guidance and feedback. She helped me through every step of the process - pushing me to stay on schedule, rigorously reviewing all of my written materials, and pepping me up whenever I used to get overwhelmed."
