a) past perfect is incorrect; there's not a sequence of past events.

b) "so much as" is unidiomatic, and we need a verb in the second half of the comparison

c) "so much than" is unidiomatic, and we need a verb in the second half of the comparison

d) "as much as" is correct, and we have the simple past "did" for a single past event

e) "as much than" is unidiomatic, and we need a verb in the second half of the comparison.
