"hominid features like a large face etc.." is wrong and it should be "hominid features like having a large face etc.." => this eliminates options B,C and E
option D misinterprets that the "fire" itself is dated back instead of "using fire".
IMO "A"

This construction seems wrong.
it should have been written as "hominid features such as"

Explain if I am wrong
