Veritas Prep mock test

by 2010gmat » Sat May 30, 2009 7:15 am
Hi ...

has anyone given veritas prep mock test available on their site? And if yes then how is the experience??

I gave the test today and found that few questions were wrong. such as ... - sign was used in place of =, 8 is given as a multiple of 3. Also quant had lots of Data interpretation questions which i have not encountered in Gprep ...

also i don't know how do they evaluate the test. Got 34 out of 37 correct in quant( out of 3 mistakes , 2 were because of wrong questions) ..and my mistakes were scattered (1 wrong in first 10, second around 24 and last was 31st question i think) ... still got 49 .(even kaplan is not so strict. ).. The level of questions was not anywhere close to GPREP...they were toooo easy... esp DS was a cakewalk... ...

verbal too was not close to Gprep... i could not agree with most of their answers ...

This test was confidence snapping ( not while i was giving it but how the test was evaluated) .... Am not aginst veritas but that was my experience...i would say better to stay away from it if your exam is close....
i think i expected a lot from veritas prep but in the end the experience was not as good as it was in the case of kaplan and Manhattan...(not mentioning gprep since it is class apart)

thnx

I took a Veritas practice exam 1 week ago and echo your response. I thought the quant was too easy and the verbal was just insane. I did not agree with many of their critical reasoning answers and to start the exam off I had 2 reading comprehension passages back to back which seemed unlike any previous GMAT experience. I scored a lackluster 610 on the Veritas exam.

I was angry so I took a GMATPrep exam the next day and scored a 690. I then scored a 680 yesterday on the actual exam.

I took the Veritas exam for one reason only, I needed fresh problems to test my progress but I simply did not believe the results were credible. I would advise against using Veritas.

Kaplan tests tend to be lower than actual results.

I missed this point in my post...i also faced lots of RC passages.and that too from the begining...i think after 1st question i got 2 passages....(must have got 5 passages, 3 para back to back) ..... Got SC questions too late in the section......

i also took this test to get a feel of new problems....

Same here.. I gave a Veritas test today and the quanta was piece of cake.. I am sure the real think will be a little more difficult... as as other users mentioned... I could not agree with some of their CR answers even after reading the explanation provided. Even the UI was not great.

For me Veritas is a confidence booster as I got 720 in it (Q-51, V-38). I agree there were some mistakes in the questions and UI was not great too...
Let the juices flow :)

I have given 4 mocks till now and were in the range of 670-690. i tried veritas simulator test today and scored a measly 600. Really unsure of the algo they use to calculate score.

Also [;ease suggest which practice tests to take to practice quant and verbal individually.
