The prepositional phrase, 'in her...' should modify Elyssa Dimant. Therefore, we can get rid of (C). Next several answer choices mix present and past tense (eliminate A, B). Finally, the correlative conjunction, 'not only...but also does not always require the 'not only.' This is surprising for GMAT students, but also eye-opening (there is some wiggle room and some idiomatic constructions). Therefore (D), which keeps consistent present tenses is the answer.
