We have the plural pronoun "them" outside of the underlined portion. "Them" refers to cows, so the answers that use "the Holstein cow" (singular) can be eliminated. This gets rid of B and D.

A repeats "them" twice more, which is redundant and wordy.

C is not parallel ("provided...and milking")

E does not look parallel at first, but it does work. The farmer must keep the cows cool, keep them "provided with...", and keep them "milked regularly." We can use the initial "keep them" to control all three:

...keep them (cool...provided...milked)

If I'm not mistaken, this is from an old paper-based GMAT.

Hi Bill,
So (A) is out only because of redundancy? Is the present tense ok in (A)?

Thanks!

Thanks!
use of" ,Ving " is wrong; it means that its the result of the action by the subject. Its the wrong meaning.
"are producing" is wrong it shows the action is going on but here we mean to say something natural.
