From 2 we can understand PUSH IS GUIDED is compared with EARLIER (just a time frame). Can we compare A CLAUSE "PUSH IS GUIDED" with A TIME (EARLIER). It's not apple to apple comparison

Moreover, AS is normally used to compare clauses/prep phrases. Hope it helps
