Jason's salary adn Karens's salary were each p percent greater in 98 than in 95. What is the value of p?

1 In 95, Karens's salary was $2k greater than jason's
2 In 98, Karens's salary was $2,440 greater than jason's

Ans is C

P = 22%

here's how to go about it:

K1 = 2000+ J1 (1995)
K2 = 2440 + J2 (1998)

J2 = J1(100+P)/100 (J2 is p% more than J1)
K2 = K1(100+P)/100 (K2 is p% more than K1)

At this point we have 5 variables and 4 eqs

From eq K2 = 2440 + J2 (1998) and J2 = J1(100+P)/100, we get

K1(100+P)/100 = 2440 + J1(100+P)/100

substituting, K1 = 2000+ J1

(2000+ J1)(100+P)/100 = 2440 + J1(100+P)/100

You can solve the two sides to get rid of J1(100+P)/100

2000P = 244000 - 200000 = 44000
P=22%
