Hey Everyone! I just took the GMAT recently (03/29) and did terribly. I ended up with a 430 overall with a breakdown of Quant:29 and Verbal:20. I took the Veritas prep course for 7 weeks which included 8 hours of classroom time every Saturday. I would like to take the GMAT in late May once again and am hoping for a score in the mid to high 500's. Do you think this is possible? Can anyone help me with coming up with a plan of attack since it seems my last study regimen was flawed. Any help or references would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

You have to focus on the basics and the basics only. That alone will bring your quant to at least a 40 and verbal to a 30.

Quant- get the manhattan gmat books. I have both those and the Veritas, the Veritas are good for practice but the manhattan gmat takes you from step 1-10. Don't go through these books two a week. Spend a minimum on one week per a book and make sure you know that book COLD. Not solid, not most of it, COLD. Do this with each quant book. If you rush through it and pretend you know it your just going to end up in the same spot as you started- I know its really hard to keep focus but you'll get there.

Verbal- Verbal is going to be mostly about practice once you learn the basics and patterns of each section. I would look up on the other forums for verbal plans since this section was the stronger of my two.

But my advice would be to practice and practice diligently- Make this your focus and really try to learn from every mistake. Once you master the basics, you'll score will increase immensely! A 35 quant and 30 verbal is right there a 550- With work you'll get there- just keep pushing- Good Luck!
