A/D - usage of 'like' for indicating examples is wrong. We should use 'such as'.
C - majored is wrong tense here, we are speaking of something that is happening and we need present continuous here.
E - having majored, being - both are wrong.

IMO B.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
