Opinion on applicaition to EMBA @ Wharton

I need an opinion on my application to EMBA @ Wharton based on your experience. GMAT score is not good. Their Middle 80% GMAT Range 640-750. Is it better to improve the GMAT score before applying ?

GMAT : 640(Q47, V31)
15 yrs International work experience
Nationality: Indian

Undergrad: 3.4 GPA (Unknown State Engineering College

I would strongly suggest retake GMAT and reapply, if wharton is your only choice. There are other options for your experience like Booth, Kellogg and MIT Sloan EMBA. All three would be looking for progressive managerial experience though.

Yep. Retake the GMAT. Why apply with your GMAT on the low end of the range when anyhow you have the time to retake?

Any suggestion on taking a specific course to improve the score ?

You are probably from an over-subscribed category(ie Indian IT male with 10+ year exeperience with strong managerial streak)... that means you have to try to get to the high end of the range; that means 710+ score will be useful.

As high as you can get
and then build your strategy on your real score. But a 700+ is is a good range.

Without doubt, a higher GMAT score will enhance your candidacy. So, the question is, how much can you improve? How hard did you prepare when you scored 640? If you simply took the test without training, you might have a lot of upside opportunity. If, however, the 640 represents your best effort, you'll need to focus your energy on 1) preparing a set of killer essays 2) maybe widening your list of target schools.
