Dear joinashish

It's hard to answer where you should apply without more information from you:
1. What sort of MBA program are you looking for? full time? part time? EMBA? one year? two year?
2. Where?
3. What are your goals?
4. Do you already have a short list? Or any idea of where you MIGHT want to apply? why?
As for your chances, we can have a look at that too, but we also will need a whoooole lot more info, such as your achievements, your leadership, volunteerwork, promotions, etc. etc.

Hi Jon,

Thanks to respond.

My current role: I am working in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd since 6 years in Engineering and Projects department. I am in management cadre on the role of Assistant Manager. My responsibility is to deliver the maximum output within the scheduled time and that too by keeping the safety practices and quality measures. This job is very demanding and challenging in nature but I like the challenges, so it suits to me.

My reason for MBA:

1.Everyone wants growth and I am not an exception. Presently I am managing the contactors, clients, subordinates and statutory authorities, so why not with a specified expertise and degree and that too from a reputed university/college.

2.Presently I am working with a Public sector undertaking (PSU & a fortune 500 company) i.e Bharat Petroleum Corporation ltd. Though company culture is very transparent, it can not stretch itself beyond its limits which are reflected in its delayed promotions and lack of acknowledgements. I want to get rewarded as per my efforts.

3.Presently I am posted at Bharatpur which is geographically a very small district. So, I want a fixed location with a role which adds my value with the passing years.

As per your Question:
1. I am looking for full time MBA either 1 year or two year but keeping in mind that I am now 31 years old.
2. I may consider any reputed university in which my profile fits.As far as, industry is concerned, I have no problem with the oil and gas sector.
3.I look forward to change my role in the same sector to consultancy, energy trading, business analyst or project management.

Kindly suggest me the colleges in which my goal and profile fits. Thanks for your kind cooperation.
GMAT score 710( Q=50; V=35)

regards

There you go. That's a good start. :)
So first of all, at 31, yes you are a bit older than many candidates, but if you feel like you can/want to take the two years, it's totally fine. You aren't "over the hill" yet :)

And since you like the petrol industry and have great experience in it (and it's not usually an industry like say consulting in which it's easy to move into without specialized knowledge) it's a good idea to stick to your industry.

So, obviously, any of the top schools anywhere could fit your profile. IF you get in to Wharton, even if it's not necessarily an "energy specialized school" obviously you will come away with what you need. And top schools are NOT out of reach for you! Yes, you can balance them with a few a bit lower down on the GMAT average and ranking, though.

So, a few schools that do "specialize" in Energy:
Duke: https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/edge/education/mba_ee/
Haas: https://mba.berkeley.edu/academics/energy.html
McCombs:https://www.utexas.edu/
