Volunteer Hours

by hutch24242002 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:26 pm
How many hours of volunteering should I have for my application? I'm applying for B-school 2014. Should I volunteer many places, or just one place?

Also, is there a target number of hours I should be shooting for? I was thinking 8 Hours a month.

8 hours a month is pretty solid. One thing you should try to do is get a leadership role within any organization you are volunteering for. Show that you are doing more than just showing up.

I agree with Jim. But let's put it this way, it's not so much hours as it is length seriousness and leadership. I mean if you have been volunteering for 10 years, whether you dis five or eight hours won;t make that much of a difference. So length is good. As are leadership and achievements. So if you are going and giving out food for ten years that is wonderful. But if you have started organizing new fooddrives in your workplace and church etc. that's even MORE wonderful.
