(1) x(a + b) = 3
(2) a = b = 1.5 and x = 1.
Stmt 1 - Take bx to LHS. Hence Sufficient.

Stmt 2 - Input values, hence Sufficient.

Hence D

Just so you have the math:

(1) x(a + b) = 3
ax + bx = 3
- bx -bx
ax = 3 - bx (sufficient)

(2) Input the values:
ax = 3 - bx?
1.5(1) = 3 - 1.5(1)
1.5 = 3 - 1.5
1.5 = 1.5 (sufficent)

(1) x(a + b) = 3
(2) a = b = 1.5 and x = 1.
(1) x(a + b) = 3 implies ax + bx = 3 or ax = 3 - bx; SUFFICIENT.

(2) a = b = 1.5 and x = 1 implies ax = 1.5 * 1 = 1.5 and 3 - bx = 3 - (1.5 * 1) = 1.5
So, ax = 3 - bx; SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is D.
